My contribution
Project-team experience · BSBG
SHA Emirates forms part of my hospitality and wellness project experience. My portfolio documents the earlier BSBG scheme through an overall view, plan and architectural visualisations.
Clinic, resort and coastal landscape
The portfolio introduces SHA Emirates as a combined wellness clinic, hotel and villa development within AlJurf. Its overall view and plan show a broad coastal composition, with smaller buildings in the landscape and larger terraced accommodation blocks behind. The original material records the 2020 scheme.
The published BSBG design
BSBG credits its +studio team with the design and lists a multidisciplinary appointment covering lead consultancy, architecture, interiors, engineering and masterplanning. Its project page places the scheme within IMKAN’s AlJurf development and describes it as under construction. [1]
Light, materials and sensory experience
In its October 2024 design account, BSBG describes planting and daylight as integral to the architecture, alongside wood and stone. Tactile surfaces, water sounds and different sensory conditions are used to distinguish spaces. These are stated design intentions, not measured health outcomes. [2]
Privacy and shared activity
The same account distinguishes private treatment spaces from more open areas for movement and group activities. Quiet retreat and social interaction are treated as complementary parts of the brief. The design also considers shading, insulation, ventilation and air-quality monitoring as part of indoor comfort. [2]
Reading the earlier plan
The portfolio plan can be read alongside the aerial and ground-level images to understand the relationship between buildings, landscape and coast. It records one stage in an evolving design. The 65,000 m² cover figure and 125,000 m² overall extent use different descriptions and are not treated as interchangeable GFA values.
AlJurf as the wider landscape
SHA’s own destination account places the retreat within AlJurf, between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It describes a coastal landscape of planted woodland, beaches, canals and wildlife habitat. The wider AlJurf area and coastline figures refer to the surrounding destination, not the footprint of the clinic or resort. That distinction matters when reading the wellness project within its larger setting. [3]

Project record & further reading
The original 2020 scheme is documented on portfolio pages 3–5. The later BSBG account was published in October 2024. The status shown is the practice’s published status, not a separately verified site inspection.
